About Our Grateful Nation
Our Grateful Nation (OGN) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving military family unity by helping immigrant relatives of U.S. service members understand and navigate Military Parole in Place (MIL-PIP), a discretionary humanitarian immigration benefit administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and adjudicated by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
OGN does not grant immigration benefits or make government decisions. Our role is to provide education, guidance, and support so military families can approach this DHS-recognized process informed and prepared.
What Is Military Parole in Place (MIL-PIP)?
Military Parole in Place allows certain undocumented immediate family members of U.S. service members to request temporary lawful presence in the United States. When granted by USCIS, MIL-PIP may allow eligible individuals to apply for employment authorization and, if otherwise qualified under federal law, adjustment of status to lawful permanent residence.
MIL-PIP exists to support military readiness, stability, and family unity by reducing the risk that service members face family separation due to immigration issues.
Organizational Focus
Our Grateful Nation’s work centers on:
- Educating military families about DHS-administered immigration options
- Assisting with case screening, document preparation, and legal representation
- Promoting lawful, federally recognized pathways that support family unity
- Raising awareness of policies affecting military readiness and immigrant families
